Fall Play Festival

SEEKING PRODUCTION SUBMISSIONS
FOR MANHATTAN REPERTORY THEATRE'S FALL PLAY FESTIVAL 2008

September 10 – November 22, 2008.  

 

FALL PLAY FESTIVAL
2008 RULES AND GUIDELINES

 

MANHATTAN REPERTORY THEATRE WILL PROVIDE FOR EACH PRODUCTION:

  • 41 seat theatre space for 3 performances (more possible if you sell out)

  • 2 free Tech/Dress rehearsals in the theatre

  • Free Promotional support: Web site support.  E-mail marketing.
  • Free Theatre production consultation

  • Free Reservation Service and Box Office

  • Ticket price will be $20.00
    (All ticket sales will go to Manhattan Repertory Theatre.)

THEATRE INCLUDES:

  • An 8 dimmer lighting board with 14 instruments
  • A 6 speaker surround sound systems with a monster sub woofer
    (The best sound in any Off Off Broadway theatre in town)
  • A 5 CD changer with support for IPOD and Laptop
  • 2 dressing rooms

EACH PRODUCTION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Casting the production

  • Directing the production

  • Stage Manager

  • Outside rehearsal space  (Manhattan Rep will offer discount rehearsal space if available.)

  • Program design and copies of their program
  • All other miscellaneous production costs – costumes, props, etc.

  • Inviting friends and family. etc. etc. (Although, there is NO number requirement.)

  • Each production team must secure and/or pay for the rights for any published or copyrighted play where applicable.
    A copy of the documentation of the payment of rights must be given to Manhattan Repertory Theatre within 14 days after acceptance into the festival.

    If you are applying with a published or copyrighted play,
    please contact the publisher or author to see if the rights to do the play in Manhattan are available and affordable BEFORE you apply.

PRODUCTION CRITERIA

  • All participants must be NON-UNION
  • NO EQUITY SHOWCASES
  • There is NO PAY
  • Plays only please. DO NOT SUBMIT MUSICALS
  • Productions must run 120 minutes or less with simple sets which can be easily struck. 

  • NO NUDITY
  • NO SMOKING in the play! No LIGHTING OF ANYTHING! (Candles, cigarettes, etc.)

THEATRE GUIDELINES

  • Participants must keep space clean and organized and treat fellow artists with respect. 
  • Any unruly participants will be immediately terminated from the Festival. 
  • Any intentional damage to the theatre caused by a production will result in immediate termination of their entire production.

 

 

TO SUBMIT:

  • Please send your production submission which includes:
    the complete play,
    the synopsis of the play,
    the running time,
    set and lighting requirements,
    the play's production history (if it has been produced before),
    YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS
    and a $25 non-refundable submission/reading fee, to:

    by July 15th, 2008.
  • Please makes checks payable to: Manhattan Repertory Theatre.
  • Applicants will be notified by July 22 by e-mail as to their acceptance.
  • Please know that scripts will NOT be returned.
  • Upon acceptance a $250.00 REFUNDABLE theatre/cancellation deposit will be required which will be returned within a week after your show closes. This deposit will NOT be refunded if any cleaning costs, or damages incur to Manhattan Repertory Theatre during your performance week by you or any member of your creative team . Also, after your acceptance, your deposit will NOT be refunded if you cancel your show from the festival for any reason .
