The Drama Couple

Two competitive aspiring Actresses with completely different methods and styles, causing personal differences,
try to share a New York apartment without driving each other crazy...obviously with humorous results.

 

CAST INFORMATION

Debra

DEBRA JANS - "Maxine"

Debra Jans moved to NYC days after 9/11 from a small farming community in Minnesota to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.  Since graduation she's worked as both an actress and model for theatre, film, television appearing on ABC's "Ugly Betty" and NBC's "Today Show".  More recently she wrapped shoots on two independent features, the coming of age film Through Different Eyes and martial art film Fight Ring.  Debra is thrilled to be on stage again especially with such an amazing cast and crew.

Ashlynn

ASHLYNN YENNIE - "Adie"

Ashlynn is the epitome of the small town girl coming to New York with a dream.  She was born in Wyoming but grew up in Colorado where she developed her love for acting.  She then moved to Manhattan to attend the "New York School for Film and Television" where she studied the Meisner technique as well as Shakespeare and graduated the conservatory in May of 2006. Since then she's appeared in various soap operas including "As The World Turns", "Guiding Light" and "One Life to Live".  In addition, she recently appeared in the film "PR" and you can currently see her in commercials for Monster.com, WPLJ-Radio and numerous MTV Spots.  Her love for theatre and comedy makes "The Drama Couple" her debut on the New York stage and she thanks all those who love and support her.

Rudy

RUDY CECERA - "Mr. Cella" / Playwright

Rudy Cecera currently writes for "The Late Show with David Letterman" & "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" but more recently produced, wrote and starred in his TV pilot "Touch" which aired on the Sci-Fi Channel after winning their Exposure Film Contest.  He also starred in the independent film Bit-Part Players, appeared with Denis Leary in his Comedy Central satire "Contest Searchlight" and  wrote and appeared in "Timing" for New York's Strawberry Festival.  In addition, he's written and starred in "Broken Boulevard", "Platonic" & "The Lead" making "The Drama Couple" his fourth production at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre.  His next play "Muse" will premier in Los Angeles.  He thanks his cast, crew and all that support him.

 

JOHN DALMON - "Writer"

John Dalmon's stage credits include "Story Theatre", "King Lear", "The Crucible", "Scenes From Amercian Life", "Epitaphs".  Regional credits: "BASH", "The Seagull", "Othello" & "Dancing at Lughnasa".  Film credits include Take-Out, The Williamsburg El Greco, & The Bigger Picture.  "The Drama Couple" marks his second appearance at Manhattan Rep having previously appeared in Rudy Cecera's "Broken Boulevard".

Steve

STEVEN VIOLA - "Director"

Steven Viola studied Acting with Gloria Maddox & Carol Prescott at the Terry Schreiber Studio.  His theatre credits include "Our Country's Good", "Othello", "Table Manners" & "Once in a Lifetime".  He also appeared in the film Nuke 'Um High and the TV shows "Steals & Deals" and "Toonces & Fences".  This is his third production for the Manhattan Rep having previously appeared in Rudy Cecera's "Platonic" & "The Lead".

 

BERNARD ETIENNE - The "REAL" DIRECTOR

Bernard Etienne has directed and produced his own independent film Bit Part Players. He's also edited, directed and produced various videos and more recently directed Rudy Cecera's independent Sci-Fi pilot "Touch" as well as his recent Strawberry Festival production "Timing" and previous Manhattan Repertory Theatre productions "Broken Boulevard", "Platonic" and "The Lead".
