by Doreen Firestone

“The Prodigal Daughter” is the story of the prodigal son’s spiritual journey home to forgiveness,

but from a woman’s perspective.

DOREEN FIRESTONE, the playwright, composer, and performer of the dramatic presentation, THE PRODIGAL DAUGHTER, is an artist who has enjoyed years of stage experience.  She has performed regionally at the Paper Mill Playhouse, as well as in a national tour of THE SOUND OF MUSIC and on cruise ships, in summer stock productions and in cabaret performances on Restaurant Row in NYC.  Operatically, she has brought CARMEN to life as the title character and she has graced the recital stage.

After years of performing in productions created by other people, Doreen was inspired to give birth to her own creative project.  Led by her inner voice, the voice of the Holy Spirit, she began to scour the Bible for stories depicting regular people struggling to find God in the midst of their inner darkness.  This became her passion; to bring these stories to life and pull them together through the beloved parable of the Prodigal Son, but this time from a woman’s perspective.  For more than four years, this presentation, filled with scripture and original music, has uplifted audiences of all Christian faiths in parishes and retreat centers from Jamestown, NY to Leesburg, FL and throughout Long Island, New York and New Jersey.  In addition, Doreen has had the honor of sharing her own testimonial at these performances of how Jesus Christ transformed her life, beginning with a difficult childhood history and alcoholism, to her getting sober in 1984, to her conversion from Judaism to Roman Catholicism at the Easter Vigil in 1997, and culminating in the present, where she describes how she is living out her call to lead people home to God through her art and history.

Doreen is especially excited about her recently released CD of THE PRODIGAL DAUGHTER, which includes all the new original music composed and arranged by Doreen, sung by the artist herself and performed with musicians she describes as her “amazing group of talented friends.”   For more information about where you can purchase her CD and for upcoming performance dates and locations, please see her website at theprodigaldaughtershow.com or doreenfirestone.com.  Also, please feel free to stop in and say hello every Sunday at Our Lady of Peace in Lynbrook, NY, where Doreen leads the congregation in song and praise to God.
