Have you ever watched a play and thought, “I would love to be the person bringing that story to life?” FIRST STEPS TO DIRECTING is a private 75 minute Zoom session for teens ages 13 to 19 who are curious about what it means to become a theatre director.
Directing is not simply telling actors what to do. It is about understanding a story, developing a vision, collaborating with actors, making creative choices, and helping all the different pieces of a production come together. We will keep everything simple, practical, and geared specifically toward your current level of experience.
We will explore what directors actually do, ways you can begin gaining experience, and the practical steps you can take now. Drawing on more than 35 years of directing and producing experience, I will answer your questions and help you create a personalized roadmap for exploring directing.
