The Complete Rewrite Intensive
The Complete Rewrite Intensive
Stop wondering if you are ever going to finish your play.
Finish it.
Your play deserves to be written.
Transform Your Finished Draft Into the Strongest Version of Your Play
You did it. You finished your play. But you also know something is not quite there yet.
Perhaps the beginning is too slow. Perhaps the ending does not have the emotional impact you want.
Maybe a character is not fully developed.
Maybe certain scenes are not active enough.
Or perhaps you simply know that something is missing, but you cannot quite figure out what it is.
This is where many playwrights get stuck. They rewrite the same scenes again and again.
They ask five different people for feedback and receive five completely different opinions.
Eventually, they are more confused than when they started.
That is exactly why I created this intensive.
Using my production based playwriting approach and decades of experience directing, producing, developing, and working with new plays, I will guide you through a focused three step process designed to help you transform your finished draft into a powerful and compelling version of your play.
HERE IS HOW IT WORKS
SESSION ONE: THE REWRITE X-RAY
Before we meet, I read your entire play.
Then we meet for a focused 90 minute Zoom session and put your play through The Rewrite X-Ray.
We look at everything. What is working? What is not working?
Where does the play lose its energy? Are the characters active and involved?
Are the emotional moments in this play powerful enough? What about the climax, satisfying or lame?
We identify the changes that will have the greatest impact on your play.
You leave with a clear rewrite roadmap. No more guessing what you should rewrite.
You know what you need to do and why you are doing it. Then you rewrite.
SESSION TWO: THE REWRITE REFINEMENT
After you have completed your new draft, I read your play again. Then we meet for our second Zoom session.
Now we examine what has changed. We strengthen what is working. We tighten scenes.
We make characters more specific and real.
We examine dialogue, action, events, structure, pacing, and the dramatic arc of your play.
We identify areas that need attention. Then you complete your final rewrite.
SESSION THREE: FINAL POLISH AND NEXT STEPS
I read your completed rewrite and we meet one final time. Now we fine tune. We answer remaining questions.
We look at the play as a live emotional experience for the audience
And I determine the smartest next steps for you and your play.
Those next steps might include submissions, readings, festivals, further development, or preparing the play for production.
You leave with a stronger polished play and a clear plan for moving forward.
Stop rewriting in circles. Stop guessing. Give your play the focused attention it deserves.
Your rewrite starts here.
