At a certain point, playwriting coaching is no longer the best path.

When a playwright has decided to move toward production, or is on the verge of making that decision, the question is no longer how to write better. The question becomes whether the script is truly ready to carry the weight of a live production.

Production is costly. Time, money, energy, and reputation are all on the line. My role at this stage is not to teach playwriting techniques.

My role is to tell the truth and help shape the script into a live emotional experience that can stand up in front of an audience and critics.

Production Readiness Consulting is focused, production driven dramaturgy designed specifically for playwrights who want their play produced and want it to be successful.

This work is for playwrights and producers who are actively preparing to move into production within the next three to twelve months. It is not designed for early drafts or writers seeking general feedback. It is designed for playwrights and producers who understand that production is a significant investment and want to protect it.

This process examines the script through the lens of live performance. We look closely at dramatic action, emotional clarity, structure, creating focus on stage, and the energy the play creates in the rehearsal room or theatre. Massive editing is often part of the work, not to polish language, but to sharpen the impact. A play is not about the words. It is a live emotional experience shared with the audience.

I also bring production thinking into the process.

SCRIPT SUBMISSION

If you are considering Production Readiness Consulting, submit your script for a brief diagnostic review.

This initial review is not a full script consultation and does not include notes or feedback.

Its purpose is to determine whether the script is ready for production level dramaturgical work.

I read to understand the shape of the play, the live emotional experience it creates, and whether there are challenges that would make production risky at this point.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU SUBMIT

After a brief diagnostic review, I will respond in one of three ways.

If the script appears production ready, we can discuss next steps related to production support and positioning amd look at Production Consulting.

If the script has real potential but is not yet ready to carry a production, I may recommend Production Readiness Consulting as the appropriate next step. This process is designed to address production level challenges before significant time and money are invested.

If the script is not a fit for production focused work at this time, I will let you know honestly and recommend continued development before revisiting production, and may lead you to Dramaturgy, or Playwriting Coaching.

Each response is intended to protect both the work and the investment required to bring it to life.
